Coming out of hiding

I didn't intend to go so long between blog posts.......it just sort of happend.

I have been busy with all of the usual, except for holding Saginaw classes. I would like to get some classes back on the calendar VERY soon. I am thinking that instead of Wednesday nights at the Community Center being just "Classes", we can make them more about scrappers coming together to crop and/or work on a class project.

My goal is more geared to bringing people together with papercrafting, not earn a living by teaching classes. I think that with our current economy, it is better to focus on an affordable way to gather and share our crafting.

Stay tuned for more details......... In the meantime - have a fabulous day!

Holiday Planner Class

Here is the Holiday Planner that we will create on November 19th. The tabs are: Calendar, Events, Cards, Gifts, Budget, To Do and Party Planning. There is a pocket to hold receipts. You can customize this planner to fit your exact needs. The little bird in the bottom corner is Maya Road and matches the paper at the top quite well. The paper at the top is glittered and has wonderful texture.
This is a fun project that is sure to be extreemly helpful in keeping your schedule in order leading up to the big day.
Please let me know if you are planning to attend this class, as there will be a limited number of kits available. If you sign up with a comment to this post you will be entered in a drawing. The lucky winner of the drawing will get this class at half price - yeah, half price!
Cost for this class is $20. I have an assortment of embellishments for you to use on your project, I just didn't add them to my class sample.

Other color and pattern options are available, so if you like the idea but prefer a different color or pattern please let me know. I have plenty of other options for you.

Blog Design

Thanks to inspiration from my friend Susan Tidwell, my blog has a new look. I've been wondering how I go about fixin' it up to be pretty and I've played with all of the settings that I could find in here. I've managed to learn a few things, but I've not been really happy with the look. I still feel like I want to fine tune things, but at least now I feel like it is coming along.

By the way, I would LOVE to have comments. If you are reading this blog, please just leave a short comment (or long if you like) to let me know that you have been here.

I'm looking forward to posting more now that I"m liking the look of the blog. Also, I will be playing with adding pictures to the posts.

Check out Susans blog here: http://susan-artfulmusings.blogspot.com (hopefully I did that right)

Happy Friday and have a fabulous weekend!

November Happenings

November is shaping up to be a busy month. It seems like these first 5 days have passed in a flash. Imagine how quickly Thanksgiving will be here (3 weeks from tomorrow)!

I will teach the 'Tool Time' class on Wednesday the 12th, and details are in a previous post. Just scroll down for more information on that class.

I will be at the Saginaw Recreation Center Fall Activities Fair on Saturday the 15th with a number of projects on display and some very cool scrappy prizes.

It looks like I will be demonstrating for Fiskars in Denton on the 16th at a Michaels store.

On the 19th we will create a super helpful Holiday Planner. I will be posting more details on this project. This will be a 'must have' tool for keeping track of all of our busy lists leading up to Christmas.

On the 21st I will have surgery on my left hand for Carpel Tunnel. This shouldn't put me out of crafting for very long. I'm expecting to be 'down' for maybe a couple of weeks and hopefully less.

Tool Time Class

As many of you know, I am somewhat of a tool fanatic. I truly LOVE my tools, most of them being Fiskars brand.
'Tool Time' is a class for you to learn about a variety of tools and get a chance for some hands-on play time. The cost is $10, I am keeping the cost as low as possible.

Part 1 Nov 12th: I will demonstrate tools, let you play with them and learn what you can do with them. This can be especially helpful in deciding which tools you want to buy. Think of is as a 'test drive' of sorts, but with crafting tools. Bring paper to make lists of the tools you will want to use for part 2.

Bring your papers and be prepared to really put the tools to use. This gives you a chance to cut out shapes, make pretty paper lace with border punches, emboss with the Cuttlebug and more.

Ok - so......what tools can you expect to see at this class? Fiskars border punches (including circle border punches), a number of squeeze punches, the cuttlebug with embossing folders, Cricut (there will be limits with this one), Fiskars craft drill, corner punches, misc. shape punches, the bind-it-all and whatever else I may come up with.

Exploding Box Class

Join me at the Saginaw Community Center on Park Center Blvd for the Exploding Box class on October 22nd. Check out the pictures here on the blog to see what your box will look like. You can duplicate this project later with various papers.

This is such a cool way to display pictures and hold tidbits. Imagine all of the possibilities: school friends pictures, birthday party or other events memories, you can create a box for just about any 'theme'. You will definately be making more of these boxes once you learn how.

I have a limited number of kits for this project, so please let me know if you are interested. You will need to bring a strong adhesive (I prefer Zip Dry liquid glue) and a few glue dots. Please bring your trimmer and a scoring blade or bone folder. There is a lot of scoring on this project. You may want to bring ink for your edges and a corner rounder. I will have a couple of corner rounders to share so don't go out and buy one just for this project.

The cost is $20 for the class beginning at 7:00 and ending at 9:00.

Hope to see you there!

October 1st Banner Class

Create a fun Halloween/Fall banner on Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Community Center in Saginaw.
This banner can be Halloween on one side, then flipped over - Fall on the other side. Please scroll down to see pictures. I am still trying to learn how to arrange the pictures on here, so I appreciate your patience and understanding as I improve at this.

Cost is $15 for Halloween and $20 if you want both sides. I will provide the papers, chip board, embellishments and instruction for you to create this fun banner.

I must know ASAP which color you want for the Halloween side.

Seeking out Saginaw Scrapbookers

I am looking for other scrapbookers in the Saginaw area. I know that this community has other people like myself who enjoy the pretty paper, scissors, adhesive, embellishments - and everything that goes along with recording memories onto paper.

It is my mission to find the scrappers in Saginaw and bring them together. Part of the fun of scrapbooking, is doing it in the company of other crafters. Scrapbookers are truly some of the kindest hearted people - ever!

I enjoy sharing my passion for paper & scissors. I love to learn and teach new techniques. I love papercrafting tools of all kinds - and even more, I love to teach others how to get the most from those tools.

If you enjoy this hobby, even just a little bit - please let me know. Let's get together and share the fun of creating with each other.

Me...new at blogging

I've been considering a blog for a couple of months. Today while reading one of my favorite blogs, I found myself clicking on the button to make my own. I thought "hey, I will just play with this idea". Next thing I know, here I am typing my first post.

This will be a place for me to post pictures of my favorite subjects, family - of course! I will post information on scrapbooking events and classes, as well as pictures of class samples.

I'm sure that this will evolve, as all things do. For now - it just feels kind of good to be this far along.
